This is everything you need to know about LED lights

If you’re not already using LED lights for your own business practices, a client, or a routine facility update, chances are you are starting to do your research. Our goal at EcoLite is to equip you to make the best decision possible for your project. Here is everything you need to know about LED lights, simply explained.

Saves money

There are three main ways LED lights save you, your project or your company money. The first way is by lifespan. LED lights can last 2 to 20 times longer than traditional bulbs. In fact, quality LEDs can last up to 50,000 hours. The less often you need to replace the bulb, the fewer bulbs you need to buy. The second way is by decreasing your electric bill. LED bulbs make 60% more efficient use of electricity, which can result in a nearly 75% savings on your monthly electric bill. The third way is through EcoLite’s Zero-Cost Shared Savings Funding program. This program allows you to make the switch to LED lights without any upfront costs or debt. Rather than creating a capital expense, you simply enter into an operating lease. The projected amount of monthly savings from energy efficiency becomes a payment to EcoLite.

Retrofitting. Limitless Opportunities

Retrofitting refers to the conversion from traditional bulbs and/or fixtures to LEDs. Since LED bulbs are so versatile (you’ll read about that next), they can be made to replace almost any lighting solution.

Since LED lights are the leaders in lighting technology, they have already surpassed the industry standard and are constantly innovating. This means that LED lighting technology can be used in nearly every situation, no matter how unique.

Increases Safety

Most traditional bulbs generate light by means of filaments and gases inside a glass bulb. LED lights create light using semiconductors, such as light-emitting diodes and polymers. This is referred to as solid-state lighting. Not only does solid-state construction make LEDs more efficient but also more durable, so you are much less likely to deal with broken glass.

Since LED bulbs make 60% more efficient use of electricity, that means only 20% of the converted electricity is released as heat. Traditional bulbs release 80% of the converted electricity into radiated heat, which is why they are so hot to the touch. Not only do LEDs reduce the risk of an electrical fire sparked by a bulb, the lower operating temperatures make them easier and safer to replace or adjust. LEDs also eliminate the danger of infrared and ultraviolet radiation that results from the over-emission of traditional bulbs.

Easier to Control

If you used a incandescent flashlight and an LED flashlight side-by-side, you’d notice that the LED flashlight produces a very bright, focused beam, while the other light throws a wide, dim beam. The incandescent bulb is reliant on a mirror to widen and project the light, while LED beams can be focused in any direction without the use of mirrors or housing. The difference you’re noticing is due to the controllability of each beam from the light.

As you’ve likely noticed with older flashlights or possibly even street lamps, most traditional lights shine in all directions. This requires the light to be accompanied by traps or reflectors in order to guide the light to its intended location. On the other hand, LED lights are designed for direction. LED lights omit the need for additional hardware (more cost savings) and makes more efficient use of the light beam.

Versatile Application

LED lights are designed and created for countless use cases, whether outside or inside, residential or commercial. And they are always improving and expanding. Here are just use cases EcoLite has worked with:

  • Offices
  • Showrooms
  • Malls
  • Speciality shops
  • Warehouses
  • Manufacturing plants
  • Flood lights
  • Stadiums
  • Street lights
  • Swimming pool lights
  • Homes

You can often find all the lights you need with one distributor. At EcoLite, we pride ourselves in having a wide selection of typical and atypical LED Lights. Feel free to look into our Retrofit Catalog and Architectural Specifier Catalog.

Efficient and Eco-Friendly

We’ve already talked about the efficient light conversion and solid-state construction that uses 60% of electricity more efficiently and saves up to 75% in electric bills. It is probably helpful to note that LED lights require fewer watts to operate than traditional bulbs.

LED lights are also better for the environment because they do not require or contain mercury as compact fluorescent bulbs do. This means less mercury polluting our waterways and fewer bulbs in our waste systems.

Better Light Quality

LED lights don’t need to “warm up” like traditional lights. They instantly turn on with full brightness and use less energy to do so. LED lights excel in level of brightness and can even offer headache free, glare elimination.

The quality isn’t with just typical white light application, either. LED lights have the capability to emit different colors without the additional help of filters. This way, the color, quality and brightness of the light is pure and uncompromised by filters.

Partners in LED

To be truly successful in applying or retrofitting your project for LED technology, you need a partner, not just a retailer or distributor. A reliable partner is an expert who leads the industry, understands your needs, educates you for your proposals, and works with you to find the exact solution. That’s our goal at EcoLite.

At EcoLite, we are designers and manufacturers, meaning that we are working hand in hand with partners all over the world to bring you the most innovative LED solutions. Then, before we recommend or sell anything, we test. We R&D and quality assurance test every single piece of hardware that we distribute to ensure you are getting “Best in Class” LED lighting.

We also have a “hands-on” approach with our partners. Our certified energy professionals work with you to calculate savings, answer questions and select solutions. We also take care of you by providing a 10 year/50,000 hour, non-prorated, unlimited warranty. In fact, our warranty includes cases of driver failure, which typically isn’t covered by LED providers. Lastly, we offer zero-cost options to make it easy. In our Shared Savings Funding, the lighting is paid for by a portion of the savings the LED lighting generates.

If you would like a complimentary retrofit or have any questions about an LED lighting solution, our experts are here to help. Call, email or contact us using the form on our website!
